Iris pigments, epithelial granules (specimen OO). Iris pigment epithelial granules, shown for comparison, are always larger than uveal granules. Although typically round, occasional ellipsoidal forms are observed. Many round granules have a dense homogenous core. Small lucencies are arranged circumferentially in the surrounding peripheral mantle (TEM, X 12,000).
