Personal Stats:

60 years on Earth so far - 30 yrs in Michigan, 1 year in Colorado, 29 years in California. Live and work in sunny San Diego county (north county inland - Escondido).

Occupation:

Have been developing specialized camera/illumination systems for eye photography since 1981, and also working as a web developer since 1995; this supports my research projects, which are mostly studying iris and its pigmentation. I've also worked as a research software developer and research scientist in Ophthalmology. I continue to do research into the iris of the eye and present scientific papers at annual meetings. I'm currently making & selling 24-megapixel cameras for eye photography.

I spent the 1980's working in an ophthalmology research lab at the University of Michigan doing work ranging from experimental design, data collection, epidemiology, statistical studies of Survival Risk, predictive models of surgical outcome, corneal topography, biomechanical properties (of the in vivo cornea) identification and modeling using nonlinear finite element methods, implant biocompatibility, and modeling operational biomechanics of surgical operations (force interaction between instrument and tissue).

I moved to the SF Bay area and directed a refractive surgery research program in Berkeley in 1989-90, then moved to San Diego area to do iris research and to study nutrition and natural health care. I branched into website development in 1996.

Much of my academic work has been as a research procedures analyst, specializing in image processing and geometric modeling in various areas of research, including development of photo-optical and video imaging hardware and software. In the early 1990s my focus was on statistical modeling of surgical effect of radial keratotomy (cut parameters) on short and long term corneal shape change (curvature and topography). From a detailed understanding of the keratotomy effects, I have never recommended the use of a knife to change the curvature of the cornea.

Recent research work has been on iris pigment research, imaging technology, alternative health methods and models, meditative methods, and models of personality and relationships such as Rayid.

Current work since 1994 has been development of office automation, online systems, electronic marketing, and website applications. Website development includes content preparation (managing content pipelines), and data-centric website development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, VBA/VBS, Access, ADO, ASP, SQL, and VS. Since 1990, I've mastered PC and LAN setup and configuration and have MCSE certification.

Education:

B.S. in Computer and Communication Sciences, The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich., 1984.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), San Diego, 2000.

Interests:

Music, Computational Geometry, Algebraic Topology, Cryptography, Statistical Modeling, Non-Linear Regression, Biomechanics. Space-Time Models, Optics, Imaging, Visual Perception, Cognitive Science, Personality Models, Intelligence, Metaphysics, Meditation, Yoga, Nutrition, Iridology, Gnosticism, Theories of Everything. I am developing a unique theory of everything which spans and unites the logical and the physical with analogy and dimensional analysis.

I have always been interested (since my first memories) in how the mind works since that is the key to increasing awareness and happiness. More recently I have understood the over-riding importance of the heart in attaining depth of understanding. During undergraduate work at Univ-Mich in Ann Arbor (Computer Science) I had more than a few epiphanies in which everything made perfect sense, and it was clear that there was a reason for everything, and everything is the way it is because it needs to be that way. I studied Artificial Intelligence and while no one could agree on a definition for 'intelligence,' I adopted a working definition of intelligence as 'cognitive efficiency'. This refers to how well one is able to acquire, communicate, use, and develop knowledge.

I've been studying Divine Truth since 2013, as well as using Applied Divine Truth every day.

Hobbies:

I played lead tenor sax in a swing jazz band---a few gigs per month (but I'm on sabbatical right now), more recently into hammered dulcimer. I like hiking, camping, swimming, tennis, tracking, orienteering. I primarily do iris research and natural health care research, as well as developing imaging systems.

Personality:

My life theme is analysis/intellectual. I am INTJ in the Myers-Briggs system, Investigator in the Riso-Hudson Enneagram system, and a Stream-Jewel type in the Rayid system (see About Rayid). My outlook is positive, analytical, unassuming, abstract, inventive, non-judgmental. I am a left-brain, inner-directed, information gathering type of person. I am very individualistic and have been developing an extensive imagination with a free-ranging mind for exploring the universe, having dropped most of the encumbrances of habitual assumption and expectation.

Talents:

  • Precise communicator, verbally and visually
  • Sensitive to aesthetics of form and function
  • Solid understanding of how polarity and unity work together
  • Can scale up or down by orders of magnitudes in analysis and synthesis
  • Have broad-spectrum skills ranging from electronics and computer hardware assembly and repair, to systems and applications software, database design and admin, data collection, business planning and operation, record-keeping, reporting, graphics, and presentation
  • Ability to work with all sorts of people (including executive and technical)
  • Ability to find out the simplest way of doing something with the given resources
  • Ability to improvise specialized solutions by developing custom tools as needed
  • Tendency to automate repetitive procedures with scripts to save time
  • Attention to detail, perfectionist bias
  • Open-mindedness and tolerance of others to be however they like in their own space

This photo was taken right before Buttons got lost outside for a week
