Marginal cribriform area, anterior iris. Small round crypts impart a "moth-eaten," cribriform appearance to marginal part of ciliary zone, seen below outermost contraction furrow. Collagen fibers are observed in floor of crypts. Fewer melanocytes are found in this portion of stroma, which is hidden in vivo by scleral margin (SEM, X 320).
